Title: 1/1000 NX-1
Post by: Mr Atoz on August 12, 2012, 05:35:38 pm
Hey all! This looks like a good place to post some older builds,so...These photos are the Polar Lights NX-1 1/1000 finished in spring of 2007.I just love the size of this scale that they're so compact and still yet well detailed! This one features the red and green flashing lights connected to a homemade acid etched board with a 555 timer chip. This has the most LEDs to date for it's scale. The whole thing is powered by a 9 volt battery inside the hardwood base. The aztecs were just done with blue tape with no particular pattern. All of the paint is Model Masters acrylic sealed with the clear satin lacquer. Hope you like them!:-)

Nicely done, sir!  I like the 1/1000 scale as well.  Though it isn't as impressive as 1/350, it is nicely detailed and doesn't take up a lot of shelf space.

Thanks Matt! I agree, the 1/350 scale has more presence than the 1/1000.But! It's cool when you can pick up the little ones and pretend to fly them around!;-p

Really nice work Atoz, seeing these 1:1000 kits lit up gives me hope for some future ideas I wasn't sure would really work.

Thank you! These are cool to light up.Just think small and work as tidy as you can! The refit was the most cramped, because of the wires and looking back ,the magnet wire would've been a great idea.Do give 'em a try sometime:-)

Amazing job that you have done here!  Can't believe something so small can be lit so convincingly. :-)
Thanks, man! The first one I tried was the TOS Enterprise just after the 1/350 refit. It wasn't a hard one except that the wires were too thick of a gauge. The rest used the computer ribbon wire instead. The 1/1000 refit has flashing strobes and the flashers, thanks to fiber optics. The floods too are mostly fiber optics. If I could find a 1/1000 K'Tinga to light, that would be a good future build!

All nice models Mr Atoz. Some nice photo work their too. I think half the fun is taking pictures of the model when it's done trying to capture that just right look.

I couldn't agree more! It's kind of like wrapping a Christmas present and watching the lucky recipient open it later!
