Title: Moebius Galactica - reimagined version
Post by: Kuce on March 11, 2019, 08:53:35 pm
After seeing Karve's version, it got me motivated enough to pull the Bucket out of my stash.

I thought I'd follow a fairly similar painting scheme, but shifted to a base of dark gull gray over a black primer since I had the parts pack with the decals for the area where the flight bays retract into.

So far, much has been the basics - prime, prime, and prime.

I'm very impressed with the fit of this kit.

The decals made it nice and easy to locate the red LED's on the main hull although I think I about went blind working with the 0402 SMD's.  The gatorhead waas probably the easiest of all the lighting since I just follewed Karve's lead and put in an LED strip and drilled the windows.

Next step - wiring up the rest of the engines and mounting the flight pods to the hull.

Karve tends to have that effect on people. scottminium also has a BSG Pegasus build going, too - Alot of that going on here!

I love what you are doing, Joe. Your lighting effects seem spot on! Well done! (Sorry about the blindness. :D )

So....are ya gonna apply a wash?! Alclad?! PE parts?! Running, blinking lights?!

Just curious.

Keep it going and I look forward to seeing your work!

So Say We All! :)

Thank you Steve.

Eventually, I'm planning a black wash to try to contrast between the hull and the armor plating.  After that, I'm thinkng of dry brushing a silver-black over the armor and ribs.

As for the lights, this is about it.  No winkie or blinkies on this one.  I'm also going to ignore the clear hull part between the engine pods.  The only time I could find that lite was during FTL in the show.

Joe, I agree on the aft clear part--and light blocking it would be a real pain.

Great job on the flight pod recesses!  Interesting how the need to 'retract the flight pods' was eliminated in later designs...good decision.

It's very good with what you are doing right now.

Looking good so far Joe! Are you using flickering lights for the engines too?

You're right, it does go together very well.
Nice to know my ramblings aren't completely wasted.  :)

I am using the flickering lights in the 4 engine pods.  I need to get some more enthusiasm now that Spring Break is over for the kids.

I loved the wash you showed.  It's looking fastastic, Karve.
