My 1:537 Reliant
« on: August 13, 2012, 09:19:48 pm »
Since we have this brand spanking new gallery, I thought I'd post up some pics of my Reliant build I did late last year.  It doesn't look as great as Boyd's does, but it still is pretty impressive!  I enjoyed building it quite a bit, and even though it isn't perfect, it's mine!

It was my first larger model (though you could say the 1:650 Enterprise might have been, kinda).  There were definitely some difficulties that I bumped into.  I'd love to build another one, this time lit.  Good stuff!

Very nice looking reliant Matt, I'm curious how the decals are on this kit.  Lots of (relatively) small ones or larger sheets?

The decals are pretty typical for any of the star trek kits. It included 4 large sheets in the kit. NOTE:  the Aztec decals are a separate purchase from the reliant kit. I believe Boyd did a video review of the decals on his trekworks channel at some point. You might want to check that one out.

Lighted or not that is a nice Reliant Matt. Great job on it. It's definitely one of my favorite ships.
Love to see the build if you decide to build a lit version.
If It's a model kit, I like it already.

Thank you sir!  It's funny, the more of these things you do, the more tricks you learn, and the more you learn what NOT to do.

I made a few mistakes on this one, but I really learned from them, and have become better at this as a whole because of it.

Now if I could just make that refit look right...

Hello

Very nice job.  very well done on the decalsl. I am with you I wish amt would do a repop of the refit version and correct the
warp engines. I heard they were to short. also do away with the paniel lines. we have decal for that now. much more to scale.

Great job on your ship.  Go ahead a lite one. !

Good luck with your other builds.

Very, very nice Matt!  You've done a first class job!  The Reliant is a really nice ship.  I picked up the R2 kit a couple months ago.  Why didn't R2 just include the Aztecs with this one??  Even if they charged it up the 30$ or whatever...Would have saved us all from ordering them separately...Can't figure their logic on this move.  Aside from the obvious, i.e. more profit, does anyone have any idea why they released the kit and decals separately???
Ooooooo!  I think I may buy that kit!

Jeff.

Great job Matt! This is a cool ship to look at too just because it's so different from everything else.

I started getting back into models about 3 months ago.  I have little to no experience doing this.  One of the only reasons I wanted to start doing star trek models was this particular model.  It's beautiful.  Defentially adding more fule to my road to building this model.
