The cockpit assembly was finished with most of the painting complete.A light gray acrylic paint from a previous build was selected for the hull color. The R2 unit, flight mode R2 unit and cockpit structures were airbrushed. The two Luke figures were painted with a fine brush. The two R2 units were varnished with a clear gloss lacquer to prep for the decals.

More notes will be needed for the instrument panel button detail.Decals for the flight instrumentation is provided on the decal sheet.

The standing figure looks awesome.

I can picture him screaming for R2 when he went under the surface when they crashed landed on Dagobah.

Judging by your last 2001 build...I cant wait to see this complete.  ;)

Engine construction was started by prepping small parts. The intakes have a tiny thin vain that sits vertically from the inner wall to the center.Care was taken to cement the vain to the center part and then allowed to dry while in the intake housing. The housing has a small notch in one half. While the vain was still drying, the center assembly was dropped in to align the vain. These pieces must be painted first before being sealed up.

Next, the engine nozzles were completely assembled. All of them are exactly alike and are keyed to go on the correct intake. The seams on these parts are very minimal and the joints follow natural detail.Since this is Luke's fighter, all of the end caps are the same.Other versions call for two of the caps that are shorter.

Previously, the rest of the decals were applied to the droids and the instrument panel. The decals are thick so, cutting the curved ones is a must.Testors decal solvent is just potent enough to soften them to conform to shape. The next day,all of the decal work was sealed with gloss clear ,for the droids and satin clear for the instrument panel.

It seams that the wings and fuselage can be completely finished before putting them all together.

Why thank you! (Shall I get you a Kleenex?  :P) I've seen the Viper build you mentioned and it's really cool! I haven't kit bashed in a long time but it's fun. Star Wars and old Battle Star Galactica filming miniatures were mostly kit bashes anyway! ;)

Yes, by gumbo, those ARE the droids I am looking for!!
OK, now that we have found them what do we do?
I dunno, I thought you knew!
What? I'm the Red Shirt of Star Wars, they don't tell me JACK!!!

Sorry, I'm back now!! :)

Amazing work Adam!
It's hard to believe those droids are so tiny. They look larger scale!!
