Got some goodies.

Original release USS Reliant - will never be built but these are starting to command some serious money these days.

This box contains just about everything (bar the paint masks - c'mon Gerry) for a 1/350 refit such as HDA decals, Paragrafix/Green Strawberry photo etch, Tenacontrols MVE board - you name it and it's in this box.

Big 22" Eagle (been wanting one for years).

And "the" Batmobile

My new acquisition isn't a kit... but with it I can make kits!

I pulled the trigger and got an Anycubic Photon 3D SLA resin printer :)

The perils of trawling FB when you have nothing better to do, came across a page for Dynamic Digital Creations and next thing I know this unsuspecting box arrives from South Africa!!

On opening the box and playing around with the big lumps of resin that were in it I soon had an idea of the size of it, frack, it's big!!

This is DDc's 1/17th scale BSG Viper MkII, which is 47cm (20") long.

They also have a Mk VII kit in progress too, I can hear my wallet screaming already!

I have the Anycubic i3 Mega, been virtually trouble free apart from burning out a fan or two. I hope you have as much success with your photon!

Every now and then, you can find a decent deal on models at Amazon, especially if you dig deep enough.

Scored a 1/72 Fine Molds Slave One (with the optional Han Solo in Carbonite) via the slow boat from Japan.
Been wanting this kit since I knew it existed.

@Spencer

Greenstrawberry has some resin parts for the Slave 1 should you want that. Iirc, they have three pieces in a package for the thrusters underneath the ship. Presumably they might fit the Finemolds kit and Bandai's kits.

The Greenstrawberry resin parts are only for the Bandai 1/144 kit.

Hi Guns.

Can you say where you get kits like these (other than Ebay). I know diddly-squat about Manga but wouldn't mind trying a few of those type of kits.

Manga (Japanese comics) and anime (Japanese animation) based model kits can usually be found:

Notes:

  • Going through eBay for Japanese model kits usually negates any savings because shipping is not usually free.
  • Amazon is a good place to try as long as you know which particular kits you are looking for.  A lot of Japanese sellers do offer free shipping there.
  • HobbyLink Japan and Hobby Search are arguably the most popular Japanese model kit retail exporters.  Their kit prices are very good, and they are marked based on current exchange rates.  They also usually offer various levels of shipping at reasonable prices.
  • Plaza Japan is also another reputable Japanese retail exporter.

I've ordered through HobbyLink Japan many times and have never had a problem with them.  Shipping usually takes between three to four weeks via Japan Post SAL (Surface Air Lifted) non-registered / non-tracking.  Their shipment packing methods are also second to none.  I wish all online retailers would ship products the way Japanese sellers tend to.

Hobby Search is a great resource as once they get kits in their hands, they actually open them, take detailed pictures of everything (box, instructions, and parts), and then add the pictures to the product listings.

I've also ordered products through Amazon with similar results.

I hope this helps.

:)

It certainly does Gadgetron. Thanks.

The SB Yamato stuff is amazing and really cheap - 35gbp for a 1/500 Yamato can't be ignored (got one anyway but really good prices).

Hey TK, I get nearly all my anime and manga-related kits off Amazon. There are a couple of Japanese specialty stores in my area (SF Bay Area) but they are mostly Gunpla (Gundam) related. I keep promising to sit down and watch a few Gundam episodes but never really got into it for some reason.

Thanks Guns.

I have watched some anime/manga stuff but apart from Yu-Gi-Oh and Starblazers (SB Yamato in the UK) I just couldn't get into any of it.
