Paint job is looking top notch Mstowell!!  Very nice indeed!

Reguarding the light thing,  you can file and reshape the head on the LED till your hearts content.  Just be careful not to go down to the metal diode itself.  I agree with the other Guys though, fibre optics would prolly be the way to go here.  Keep up the fine work my man!  :)
Agreed F.O. for the win.
Great work so far. can't wait to see more!

Thanks for the suggestions about using fiber optic.
I may gave that a try, but my question is, where do you purchase it from?
I've seen it on ebay, but it seems to be much large quantities than I would ever use.

Thank,
Matt

Hi Matt we can buy it in the UK by the metre from ebay. You will be suprised by how much you will use. Our price is less than a dollar.

Try plastruct.com for smaller quantities. If you have trouble getting to their catalog, just google plastruct catalog and you'll find a PDF file. This catalog is a scratch builders paradise. The fiber optics is towards the end of the catalog. It's 256 pages I believe. Good luck !

Try these guys. They sell 'packs' of different-diameter rolls, and it's not too pricey.

I little progress on the sherman tanks.
1st photo is prepaint.
2nd photo is a start on the paint.  I am going to try doing some weathering to the tanks.

On another note.
I got the 2mm LEDs that I was planning to use to light the wing tips. They are still to big.
So, I am going to use FO.
Hopfully will have photos of that in a few days.
Although I've not used FO before.
I assume that I can drill small holes into a LED and use CA to glue the fibers to the LED?
Enjoy,
Matt

CA will eat at the FO strands.  I'd suggest using canopy glue, or epoxy.

You can use CA glue as long as you hit it with Zip kicker immediately. Other options for lighting in tight spaces include SMDs. They are making them incredibly small now.

Thanks for the warning about the CA glue.
I think SMD might still be too tall. The space is pretty tight, and I have FO coming already. ;)
I think I have canopy glue already.
Would I be able to use hot melt glue gun, or would that be too hot and melt the fiber?

They have the pre-wired pin head size smd's on Boyd's channel video conf. last night. HDA is going to have them available soon.

Never tried hot glue before Matt.  You could experiment a bit and see what happens.  I like to use plain old inexpensive white glue myself.  Takes a day or so to dry but works very well.  You're gonna love the fibre optics!!! ;)  They are soooo cool!
Tanks are going to be cool! :)

Hi Guys,
I little slow progress this week.
Here's a pic of what I've been trying to figure out.
How to get the tiny stars on the tanks.
I think they turned out pretty good considering that the tanks are only about 1.5" long.
I decided to do the start when I found out that Sherman tanks often had stars on them.
Now that stars are on and tanks glued, I can do a little weathering.  Pic of that to follow.
Matt
