And, so it begins.  The Rank Amateur, armed with knowledge given freely, will attempt to build one of his favorite vessels in all of Sci-Fi.

I am with Armando on this one; I am hoping to glean some great insight on this kit.  As a new model builder, I will take all the help and tips you can give me!  I wish you fun and success, with the build and the contest!   8)
That model really tied the room together.

And, so it begins!

Part One:  Base Prep (Or:  "Dremel, oh, Dremel, how I love thee!")

To begin this build, I've decided to start some work on the base of Pegasus.  This base will not be the standard 'Emblem' stand that comes with the kit, but an improvised base that I've decided to use.  It's a wood plaque that I found at Michaels for a buck fifty, and it'll do nicely, once it's stained and given the proper treatment.

To start the preparation, I've decided to drill a 1/8" pilot hole, using my Dremel 4000 and drill-press stand.

And, the pilot hole drilled.

Now, we go on to our 3" Harbor Freight special Vice, and use a standard drill to open this hole up to 1/4".

With this done, I've now decided to cut a 'channel' in the back of the base, to allow for wiring, as well as a lighted rocker-switch for the lights.  This was done using the same Dremel, with the same drill-press stand, and a rotary cutting head in something like a milling-out action.

And, finally, the channel is done.  The angled look of it is for the switch I plan to use.

More to come!
