I finished two of the engines for the Eagle module today. These are pretty cool. Depending on the vehicle that is being used, the wheel tracks will either be out or in as shown in the first picture. The left side is out and the track is inverted to have it in on the right side. The rest of the pictures have both wheel tracks out. In order to reverse the tracks you have to unscrew the back of the engine then slide the wheel out, turn it around then slide it back in and screw the back of the engine on. This this is just to cool! This process is shown on my Google+ page so please have a look!

Thanks all for the motivation and kind words!

Mike

looking good there buddy are you doing a diorama with the shuttle? sorry if you answeared this already im catching up on everything :(

You know I have been thinking about doing that. I would have to ask to see if I can switch from Modified category to Diorama category if I do decide to do it. Making a nice lunar surface would be pretty fun.

I love how this kit is building up, you are doing awesome work here man!  Clean looking build, and some nice detail with the ship (the first shots of plastic did not do it justice).   8)
That model really tied the room together.

This is gonna open a can of worms, been discussing at work lately over whether or not man has really been to the moon  ;D

But this is a model site, and this model is looking good. Nice work so far

first off, of course we've been to the moon. Buy a telescope!!! :)
Now back to the show. I got a lot done today. Finished engines 3 and 4 and put the lunar lander together for the first time! Still some detail painting to do but it's about ready for final touches and decals. The front 2 engines are on backwards but that is no big deal since they are connected by screws and they are meant to come apart when you combine this section with the space shuttle.

I did some work on the landing platforms for the lunar vehicle. The first picture shows the parts on the section that holds the shuttle in lunar mode. It has a spring inside of it to give it a little bounce when landed on or landing depending on the vehicle mode it is in. These are also the landing gears when the shuttle combines with the lunar vehicle. I used one of my old shuttles to show how it sits on the lunar vehicle.

Construction is completed! All that is left now is some touch up painting and detail painting then I can gloss her and begin putting on decals. The final part I worked on the the Gatling gun that is stored in the cargo bay. It has a nice little set up that auto rises and lowers the gun when I open and close the cargo bay doors. I do need to fix one of the flaps that broke. Last week I dropped the shuttle on the floor when taking it to be painted and broke both of the flaps. I managed to fix them but one broke again today and I have not yet been able to find the part that broke off. And just as I type this I found it!!!! Here are a few new pics.

Thanks again all for checking out my build.

Haha Lufty. That it does. I also think my Sky Lynx is getting a little jealous of my new build.

And one last update for today. I finished the Space Shuttle part! I still have a few slight touch ups to do with paint, but other then that, she is ready for her final coat of gloss and she is done! And really, is there any other name I would have named her? :) Since the decal sheet that came with the model was very small, I used a full decal sheet from a Revell shuttle model that I had not used. I was able to give her the full and proper look of a shuttle. I just hope that all the extra decals do not interfere or get damaged when it combines with the lunar section. I also had a 3rd decal sheet laying around. Can anyone tell me what the extra decal is?
