The Eagle has landed... on your bench!   ;D  I look forward to seeing you get it up and running, this is one of those models I would love to own and build one day myself.  I wish you fun and success, on the build and the contest!   8)
That model really tied the room together.

Day One. Started the process. And boy, there is some work to be done. Anyone who has ever owned this kit knows that it is not as accurate as it could be. So, I will attempt to make it so. This will call for a lot of cutting, filing, sanding and fabrication.

I started by removing the material between the frame members on the service module.

Tricky work. Already lost two drill bits ::)

You have your work, er cut out for you with this one! I built a couple of these way back when they were first issued and thought they were the coolest, and still think they are cool. Looking forward to your build. :)

Whoa...You're a bear for punishment James  ;D

Seriously, the carving you are doing is pretty well a "must do" in order to get
a nice result I would think eh?  I mean, the way they molded that bit solid just
isn't going to (hmm hmm) fly.  Looking good James!  :)
Ooooooo!  I think I may buy that kit!

So, it is Day Three for me, and I have to say, I am not happy with the way this kit was molded and designed. Even after drilling and cutting out the excess material, I am left with a mess. So, scratch building the structural 'cages' looks like the way to go.

And here are my first scratch built components.....

Three more side panels (2nd photo), 15 top/bottom angled panels (3rd photo), and eight top/bottom pieces to go. Then I can start on the module walls and verticle ties.  ;D
