1:350 U.S.S. Reliant NCC-1864 Spring Build (Modified)
« on: February 28, 2014, 11:32:40 pm »
Whew! Made it!!! I was driving nonstop from Alabama to Texas and just pulled in! Here she is! My  entry 1:350 U.S.S. Reliant. I will be sacrificing a 1:350 refit, and also will be using the tenacontrols reliant board and lights, strip LEDs and LOTS of styrene! May the games begin!

This ought to be interesting. I hope you'll expand this build later with Refit and make the Mutara Nebula battle diorama. :D

Ok here we go!

First I set aside everything from the refit I would be using.

Rub a dub dub! givin the parts a scrub!

Chop chop! first cuts on the saucer. ( I almost cried)

almost there...

Done! more will probably be trimmed away, but I left as much as I thought I might need for bracing.

In order to build up the back area, I will need a structural foundation. I will most likely make one of wood.
Next, some detail work. Comparing the resin conversion, the old AMT kit, and of course reference photos. Quite a bit of difference ...

yet more comparisons between my references: the AMT 1/537 and the Lunar Models resin 1/537 refit conversion...

The upper decks...

Ventral Impulse Core...

Straight on...

Dorsal Impulse core...
