[Star Wars] Plastic Model Kits Coming From Bandai
« on: June 12, 2014, 06:00:21 pm »
Sergio started a thread on Bandai's Star Destroyer (Tokyo toy show 2014) (http://scifimodelaction.com/sfmaforum/index.php?topic=3580.0).  Here is some more info...

Bandai has apparently acquired a license to produce Star Wars plastic model kits.  Here are some things they showed off at the 2014 International Tokyo Toy Show:

1:72 X-Wing - 2014 Fall Release:

1:72 TIE Advanced x1 - 2014 Fall Release:

1:12 Darth Vader - 2014 Fall Release:

Here are some announced action figures:

1:12 Darth Vader (S.H.Figurarts - poseable) - 2015 Release:
1:12 Stormtrooper (S.H.Figurarts - poseable) - 2015 Release:

Samurai Taisho Darth Vader - 2014 Winter Release:

And here are some concepts that Bandai are considering:

1:48 X-Wing (lights and motorized S-foils):

1:12 C-3PO (poseable):

1:12 R2-D2 & R5-D4:

1:12 Stormtrooper:

Death Star War Display Image Model:

1:1700 Imperial Star Destroyer:

Sad to hear that finemolds no longer holds the rights to make starwars models.
I just hope the Bandai kits are up to the same standards.
I hope the kits are not like the star trek kits which are already pre-painted and part assembled.

Those pictures look very encouraging. Oh my, that Star Destroyer looks awesome (needs fibre optic light though :D )

Hope they make a B wing kit nom nom
Cheers
Ollie

Did you see anything on the Millenium Falcon.  Or should I get the fine mold one now if I can find it.

Any idea how big a 1/1700 Star Destroyer is?

At least the Darth Vader figure isn't the pathetic Hayden Christensen version!

Amen to that.

A star destroyer at 1700 scale should be around 37 inches in length.
Gimmmie! :D

Star Destroyer @ 37" is a definite gimme x2!!!

Yeah, I like that Death Star scene as well. Wonder if that is gonna be a set or a display base sold
separately? Just add your own 1/72 X-wing and Ties!!

I just picked one up,  delivery time is a long middle of August,  by then Bandai would of come out with there's and sell out.

Oh well what I see of the fine mold kit is very impressive.  I'm looking forward to starting it as soon as the slow boat gets here.

Interesting to see how the Bandai 1/72 TIE holds up to the Fine Molds 1/72 version.

Oh and lol at the proton torpedoes. They look like red tadpoles at first glance.

If Bandai keeps up their usual standard of production,  everything will fit together beautifully, part seams are well hidden overlapping where possible,  and detail is very crisp.  I can't say enough good things about their latest efforts.  The 2199 line is incredible.

Hi, Everyone.

Looks like Bandai Japan has updated their website to include their newly-released Star Wars kits:

http://bandai-hobby.net/sw/index.html

According to their 'SCHEDULE' link, their plans for 2015 will be...

February 2015:

  • 1:48 AT-ST
  • 1:72 TIE Fighter

March 2015:

  • 1:12 R2-D2 & R5-D4

Rest of 2015:

  • 1:12 Scout Trooper & Speeder Bike
  • 1:72 Y-wing starfighter
  • 1:12 C-3PO
  • 1:12 Sand Trooper
  • 1:48 X-wing starfighter (Moving Edition)
  • 1:48 Snow Speeder
  • 1:144 Slave I

Their 2015 release schedule is very ambitious, but I'm sure Bandai can pump those kits out.

Early reviews of the just-released 1:72 X-wing and 1:72 TIE Advanced x1 are very positive with some people saying they edge out their Fine Molds counterparts in detail and accuracy.

Looks like Bandai is doing Star Wars justice.

Exciting news! I'll try to get the 1/48 AT-ST and the Scout trooper + speeder bike. Curious about the electronic 1/48 X-wing too
