Pearlescent Paint (for refit obviously) for Canadians
« on: October 23, 2015, 02:07:56 pm »
Title says it all. Where can I find the right type of pearlescent paints for my refit that are able to ship to Canada. I read that the stuff Trek Works uses won't ship out of country?

You can use the water-based version of the Mackenzie pearlescents - these are not subject to the same HAZMAT restrictions as the lacquer based ones are.

Alternatively you can use a pearl powder and mix them up in whatever clear coat medium that is locally available.

I've never used acrylics on models before, so I'll probably lean towards the powder in this case. Can you suggest good colours for the refit? I recall Boyd using Gold, blue, red, aqua. Is there a special type I need for the correct effect?

I have never used this stuff, but you could try the Mr Color Crystal Pearl(s). These are acrylic tho, and not sure if those can cross boarders or not, so you'd have to think of that. They are available on Amazon, but are super over priced, can probably find them elsewhere cheaper. Found a video of some tests with them. Hope this helps  8^/
