I've been drilling for the fiber optics for the past couple weeks.  I still don't have any LEDs set up for them yet, but all of the fibers are in for the interior.

I've also lit the hallways which gives it a bit of life.  I still have a bit more work to do in the interior, but it is all glued together and one piece now.

Matt, I love the lighted hallways! The ambient light really gives it that feel of reality!

About the Engines...are you going to put a blue insert/lens/gel on it or are you leaving it white?

This is an awesome build and I have enjoyed following as you work!

Keep at it!

Thanks for the kind words!

If you watch the movies, the engines are white with a blue glow around the edges.  I'm going to use the clear part that came with the kit, frost it, and airbrush the edges with clear blue.  That should give it that distinctive blue glow while making it look bright white in the center.

I'll be posting more as I build more. :)

Here's a teaser of the interior with the computer lit.  Looks like the fiber optics are going to be a hit!

Great job.  I've been watching for one of these kits myself.  Everything I've been finding has been around $100 though and I think it's a bit steep.
I also have the new Revell Master Series which is a remake of the 1:72 Finemolds kit.  That one looks a little daunting at 904 pieces and has me dragging my feet.  I really want to do a simpler kit around the same scale first.  The cutaway version looks to fill that bill.  I just have to fine one at the right price.

In doing research for lighting for the Falcon, I came across this set of videos https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLmkv7YJDrHkADz1KAZZjXf1kSXFMOGTVQ .  Seems like your on the same track.  It gives some great lighting effects.  I'm really looking forward to seeing how your lighting comes together.

Thanks for the kind words, fellas!

@Adam:  The kit comes with 4 figures. If I can paint them so that they look semi-ok, I'll put them in the kit.  If not, it'll just have Han and Chewie in the cockpit.

@CowboyJed: Yeah, I wouldn't pay more than $30 for this kit.  It really isn't that well made, and there are a lot of issues with it that need to be pushed through.  That said, it's a FUN kit to work on.  Lots of details to paint and lots of things that can be done to make it look good.

And yes, I've watched Michael Maupin's videos over and over trying to get more ideas.  His Falcon is NUTS!  I've also got the Fine Molds kit, and that one will be built up at a later date.

I've started installing the fiber optics into their respective LEDs with some permanence.  The interior is lighting up nicely!

I've started the weathering process.  We've gotta make her nice and dirty!

Looking good man! Seems like one could put just as much work on the inside as the outside!  :)

TBH, the interior has taken a long time to detail.  The outside of the Falcon is quite a bit less work.  This cutaway version has so much detail to do up on the interior, it makes it actually really fun!

Thanks, trekker!

I've completed the interior (with the exception of the game table decal, thanks, Jerry!).  The ship is starting to come together.

I'm very pleased with how this is turning out.  It's starting to look really good!
