I've been working on the cockpit of the cutaway.  I ordered the Shapeways replacement cone and cockpit interior, as the kit one was a joke.  I've also gotten a back wall from Jerry at HDAModelworx made out of very thin styrene.  I was able to mount some fiber optics in the rear wall, plus light the console of the shapeways part (it's in clear.)

The figures that come with the kit don't fit in the shapeways cockpit, as they're huge and way out of scale.  Because of this, and because things in the cockpit don't quite look right, I decided to modify the kit glass in an attempt to blur and magnify some of the lighting in the cockpit.  You can still see inside of it, but the kit glass hides lots of defects.  I'm thinking about leaving it that way, but if for some reason I wind up not liking it, I can try using a piece of blister pack to make new cockpit glass.

Let me know what you guys think... kit glass or no?

Beautiful, Matt!

Simply, elegantly beautiful!

What's left to do?

Once I finalize the cockpit, I have to paint the frames on the top and bottom gun windows and paint the cannons.  I'm also working with Jerry at hdamodelworx to create a rear engine grill for it, as the kit doesn't have one.

Otherwise, it's time to mount it on the base and display it! :)

Thanks for the kind words... I appreciate it!

ohhh-kay...

I've painted both of the gun windows, and am in the process of assembling and painting the guns.  Once they are on, I need a base and an engine grill.  The engine grill is being designed by Jerry at hdamodelworx, and the base will come from Dave at WolfBase.

Here's a pic as she sits now.  You can see my 537 refit poking out behind it, waiting for it's finish right behind this one.  Soon...

It's "BEAWESOME"!

Awesome work Matt! Can't wait to see the engine grill Jerry makes for you, and the base from Dave too.

Ok, Here's some photos at around 90% complete.  I do have the engine grill now, but it's not installed yet.  I also have the decal for the game table, but it also isn't installed yet.  And lastly, no, I don't have a base yet.  The Refit base is seeing a lot of action with this thing!  We're getting close!

Let me know what you guys think...

This is incredible! Very well done.

Are you going to add the meteor or laser impacts along the upper hull near the radio dish?

I haven't decided.  I've been thinking about trying to add them.  This Falcon is really a test bed for my Fine Molds Falcon, so anything I do weathering-wise is probably fine.
