Hello, from sunny Columbus, Ohio
« on: July 10, 2016, 08:17:12 pm »
Just joined. My daughter is currently 14, and have had her interested in model kit building since she was 8. My own father got me into it, and I always strive to help people interested in the hobby, and of course seeing it grow. (Once Hobby Lobby grows their model Isle then we know we have gotten the hobby to grow.)

I usually have a wall of kits on standby, and anywhere from 3-5 on the bench in various stages. Lol, and my daughter is equally as guilty.

We love to watch the live show while we both do what we call "squab kits" either a Bandai kit of some sort, or a basic Skill Level 1 kit that we end up modifying.

Welcome to the Boards! Both of you!

From your "wall of kits" what's on the bench now? What do either of you like to do? What catagory of models do you like? Star Wars? Star Trek? Galaxy Quest?

Looking forward to you builds!! Good luck on the boards!

Welcome to the group.  That is awesome to have your daughter involved in building.

To build or not to build.... that is the question.   The answer.... build... Duh.

Welcome to the group! Good to hear that you've been able to pass along your passion for the hobby to your daughter. Look forward to seeing some of your builds, both yours and Zoe's.

BTW, are there any good local hobby shops in the Columbus area that you frequent? I'm up in Wayne County between Mansfield & Canton, and there's not much to choose from except for a couple places.

As a software architect, I'm pretty darn good.  As someone with knowledge of building things in the real world, well, I'm a software architect.

Welcome! I am also in Columbus! The only Hobby shop I know of really is Hobbyland in Graceland shopping center which is close to Morse and High.

Welcome! There's a bunch of us here in NE Ohio. I'm up near the Youngstown area. There's an IPMS Show in November, maybe we can all get a little "Mini-Wonderfest" meeting together?
