I put the LED tape on the top of the saucer. Since the bottom part only has a handful of windows, i'm letting the light reflect off the bottom and bounce back up.

Did you do this to avoid hot spots in the lower windows or is there some advantage to the method you describe?

Thanks Steve! In general I always try to keep the lights out of site of windows or clear plastic parts. When I can I try to reflect the light to help avoid hot spots. It also helps to not make the light so bright and even. Nothing bother me more on my models then having a LED pointed right at a window blinding me when I look at it!

Looks great! The torps turned out really nice! Any chance you could take a pic of the inside of the saucer to get an idea of the LED strip placement?

And are you running this off 12v?

Thanks!

Sure! here is the upper saucer. I have no lights on the lower saucer. I am still tweaking the engineering section.

Today I got the warp engines lit up. My lighting kit from TenaControls will arrive saturday. One that comes in it's time to hit warp 9.975!

I have the skinny blue led tape on the bottom of the warp engines. The board from TenaControls has a warp effect using white lights that get real bright when going to warp. I will put that in the top of the engines. That's the plan for now. That may change when I do my tests.

I always thought the warp engines looked like snakes. Am I the only one?

Thanks!

Mike

We have impulse power! This morning I finished up the warp and impulse engines. It's looking really good. All that's left is the nav lights which I will install when my SMD's come in.

Next up: Tomorrow my lighting kit from TenaControls is due to arrive. I can't wait to get my hands on that! When that arrives I will start work on the nav and strobe lights. After that I will work on the weapons systems. Once that's done the electronics part of the kit should be finished. I sent an email last night to Trekmodeler to get the status on the display pole i ordered from them. It's been a week since I placed the order.

Thanks for following!

Are you going to have your nacelles locked in one position or are you going to have them movable?

Thanks Karve!

I will experiment with this. I don't want to put the wires through any kind of stress.

Mike, this is looking super!

Love what you have done with the impulse engines!

Just curious - are you planning on putting something over the LEDs to diffuse the light?

Looking nice!

Keep 'er going!

Thanks! I do plan on doing something. I may yet again steal an ida from Karve and put cotton over the LED in the impulse engines. It gave it a neat effect.

Well here is the first video for Voyager. In this video I test the warp effect with the TenaControls board.

Enjoy!
