Hi, Everyone!

The 56th Shizuoka Hobby Show 2017 (www.hobby-shizuoka.com) is happening 5/11 to 5/14 in Japan.

Who is ready for the Max Factory PLAMAX 1:20 Macross (or Robotech: The Macross Saga to Westerners) VF-1A/S Valkyrie?

Max Factory is at the show and is showing off some test sprue trees for this giant 711.5mm (28.011811 inches) long kit.

There will also be an in-scale 1:20 Lynn Minmay kit that will be sold separately.

Check out the attached pictures!

Stay tuned...

:)

Hi, Everyone!

The 56th Shizuoka Hobby Show 2017 (www.hobby-shizuoka.com) is happening 5/11 to 5/14 in Japan.

The other day, Max Factory showed off some of the test sprue trees to their planned PLAMAX 1:20 Macross VF-1A/S Valkyrie.  Now they threw in a surprise...a 1:20 Macross VF-1S Valkyrie Gerwalk mode model!

Check out the attached pictures!

Stay tuned...

That Valkyrie looks awesome but I can imagine it being a bit pricey? :(

I saw it in-person at Tokyo's All-Japan Model Hobby Show last September. Pretty big! The Gerwalk looks fantastic as well. I imagine the price will be close to 20,000 yen.

This year was my first not attending the Shizuoka Hobby Show since I moved to Japan in 2012. I used to be a convenient train ride away from the event, but this past winter I moved to Gunma Prefecture, so far away. I didn't have the money for a trip. I will focus on the Summer Wonder Festival instead.

I saw this in person at the Tokyo hobby show. I still need to get around to posting the pictures I took. Max Factory will also release a 1:20 Super Strike Valkyrie in Gerwalk mode. Good luck finding room for these in your homes!

Hi, Everyone!

After teasing and teasing fans for the last few years at various hobby shows in Japan, Max Factory has finally released more concrete details of one of their planned 1:20 Macross model kits..the VF-1 Super / Strike Valkyrie in Gerwalk Mode as seen in the classic 1984 Do You Remember Love? anime movie!

  • The model will measure 570 mm long, 620 mm wide, and 500 mm tall (22.4409 inches x 24.4094 inches x 19.685 inches)
  • Equip the model with either the Super or Strike pack
  • Model itself will be in a static pose but the angle of the wings can be adjusted after assembly
  • Included figure will be molded to have on a flight suit the same as what the character Roy Focker wore
  • The head at the underside of the fuselage will have parts to build it as either the A, J, or S types
  • Parts will be molded in five different colors so painting will not be necessary
  • Canopy will be virtually seamless with the fuselage
  • Decals / stickers will be included to give build choice of Roy Focker's or Hikaru Ichijou's Valkyrie
  • Display stand will be included
  • Parts will be made of ABS and styrene
  • Under-wing armament will be sold separately at a future date after the kit's release
  • August 2018 scheduled release
  • 39800 yen (currently about $366.00 U.S.D.) MSRP

Pre-orders have just started at HobbyLink Japan.  I'm sure other kit exporters such as Hobby Search will follow soon.

Stay tuned...because Max Factory has always had plans for a 1:20 VF-1 Valkyrie in Fighter Mode too!

Start saving up, Macross / Robotech fans!

:)

That looks totally amazing but way out of my price range though.

I've seen this in-person and while it is impressive, there are aspects to it that are a bit lacking. For example, it does not have clear parts for the nav lights and IR sensors. It is crazy big. I need to upload the pictures I took at the hobby show in Tokyo last September. I won't be able to attend the Shizuoka Hobby Show in a couple of weeks.
