Back into modeling after √1,225 years
« on: August 22, 2017, 01:19:24 pm »
Hello everyone! I've been lurking here for a while, completely in awe (and massively intimidated!) by some of the builds here (Enterprise refit!! Holy hell...)

I built some spaceship models when I was a teenager and was looking for a new hobby and decided to jump back in. So far I've completed a TIE Interceptor, adding LED engine lights (totally not knowing what I was doing!). I'm currently working on a regular TIE fighter with laser cannon LEDs that flash, and red LEDs for the cockpit and engines. Not much space to work with in these things! On deck is a Viper Mk VII with VoodooFX and Paragrafix photo-etched cockpit and lights. I am SO not handy and don't know jack about electricity so I'm going to take it slowly and read a lot!

TIE Interceptor build (kind of cringe-worthy with how little I knew but it came out okay) http://imgur.com/a/UJ7jf

TIE fighter construction, not quite complete http://imgur.com/a/3448Q

Thank you! I don't have a lot of time to devote to it right now so progress will be slow, but I'll document as much as I can. Enjoying it so far!

Hey, Dave!

Welcome Aboard!

Don't be intimidated by some of the Masters here. They don't bite! (At least in some cases! :) )

This is the place to learn, try out new things and improve your skills; although, from looking at your Tie Interceptor builds, it looks like you will do just fine here!

Jump in and start a WIP thread on a project! Would love to see your work!

Welcome Dave! The Interceptor looks great. I have a traditional T.I.E. Fighter and Vader's Advanced version, but haven't built them yet. They are small, but fantastic detail for the scale.

Thanks! I'm really impressed with the Bandai kits so far. The Moebius Viper Mk VII is good with detail but the fit between parts doesn't seem to be at quite the same level as Bandai. But still a good model--just needs more putty (pilot figure I'm looking at you).
