Just curious... has anyone used the remote control option/addon to remotely control their model lights from your phone?

Using Bluetooth with Arduino certainly is intriquing.

YouTube member "BB o HK" built a fantastic Bandai 1:72 Resistance X-Wing Fighter using an a micro servo motor, LEDs, an Arduino, a low-cost Arduino-compatible WiFi module, and an Android app called RoboRemo.  RoboRemo (www.roboremo.com) allows one to control Arduino projects via Bluetooth, BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy), WiFi, and USB.

Here is his build video: https://youtu.be/gT8ECGRFFMw.

While he chose to use WiFi, RoboRemo can certainly be used with Bluetooth by way of an Arduino-compatible Bluetooth module.

The creator of RoboRemo has created several tutorial YouTube videos...

...of which number 3 is the most relevant for Bluetooth Arduino control.

One of these days, I might try playing around with these components.  The low price of everything certainly begs the techie inside me to give it all a look see, at least.
