Starship technical reference material
« on: September 03, 2017, 11:34:29 pm »
I wonder if anyone knows of a good resource for technical information about the structure and components of starships.  I've been to Memory Alpha and the startrek.com database, and they have some great descriptions.  But they're short on illustrations.  I'm looking for something with illustrations of the parts and their locations.  I'm slowly gathering an understanding of the difference between shields and navigational deflectors, the location of the B/C deck and the recreation deck, and how to tell what's a thruster port and what's a phaser bank by listening to modeling videos.  But I wish there was a site where I could find it all in one spot.

Thanks!

I have this book - https://www.amazon.com/Star-Trek-Scotts-Guide-Enterprise/dp/0671704982, which is for the refit, as well as the original for the TOS.  I think this is what you might be looking for - I'm not positive so do a Google search for images on"mr scott's guide to the enterprise" and you should see enough examples to give you and idea if this is what you're after.

HTH,
Brian

Sure - I just reread what I wrote, and it didn't come out right. The link above is for just the refit.  What I meant to say is I also have the TOS version, but that is a different book: https://www.amazon.com/Star-Trek-Fleet-Technical-Manual/dp/0345340744/ref=pd_sim_14_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=31QCYPQDBDYZT40QYH05.

@FatalCheese: I had the Starfleet Technical Manual when I was a kid in the 70s!  I miss that book.  Maybe I'll try to hunt one down again!
