The Mark108 TOS Environmental Tricorder
« on: October 20, 2017, 06:04:16 pm »
Starting with a Marco tricorder kit I will be turning it into one that scans for environmental items.
IE; temp, humidity, pressure, and other such items. Here is the beginning.
I will be building a custom piece for the center.
This will also play a video clip

Is the screen "animated"...?

It looks pretty sweet even if just a static image, but if it animated... wow! :)

It is an annimated display. That one shows temp, pressure and humidity.
In realtime. There is another screen that shows a graph for the second mode.
The 8x8 led matrix will also show a magnetic field and direction.
This is done with python coding. I can't take credit for the code. I found this
project on github and have reworked it for this

Nice build, Cameron and nice video choice!

As always, your builds are interesting!

Keep going!

You know what's really cool about it?

If this was back in the '60s that looks like what you would actually see inside a TOS tricoder when Spock or Scotty had one apart to modify it :)

At least it made me think about Franz Joseph's design - and he made the Tech Manual in 1975, so, close enough...

Ran in to power problems. The booster on the battery charger is not working so I am only getting 3.7 volts. Not enough to run. So ordered a seperate booster and have to wait till Monday to install. So much for having it wrapped up this weekend.

Software? Still gonna use Raspberry pi for this?

Keep going! Glad you got back on track!

Yes software. Raspberry Pi 2 running Linux.
Utilizing Python. (Which I haven't a clue on what I'm doing)
Cut and paste code and see what happens. LOL
I found the initial code on GetHUb but will need to learn Python better
to access the other sensors and make it do more.
