[AMT / Round 2 Enterprise Refit] 1:537 2018 Re-release
« on: October 26, 2017, 08:28:55 pm »
Hi, Everyone!

Here are some newly-released details for the upcoming AMT / Round 2 1:537 Enterprise refit re-pop (kit number AMT1080):

  • Model has been retooled to use the ubiquitous Round 2 large dome base and metal support tube.
  • Kit-supplied decal sheet has been updated including new strongback details.
  • The infamous surface paneling detail that was added to the tooling from the old "Wrath of Khan" to "Undiscovered Country" AMT / ERTL re-releases of the kit will remain.  The cost of having the detail removed from the tooling was too high.
  • NO aztec decal sheet set will be made for this release as applying large decals over the paneled surface proved problematic.
  • Parts for the 1:230 shuttlecraft that were included with "The Final Frontier" and "Undiscovered Country" AMT / ERTL re-releases will continue to be offered with this re-pop.

Check out the attached pictures!

This is one of AMT / ERTL's "most challenging" Star Trek models.  The detail and accuracy issues have been well documented over the many years that it has been available.  If you like the 1:537 scale size (about 22-inches long), and you have the heart to tackle this one (hint: aftermarket parts will be your friends with a build like this), it will be released during the first part of 2018.

Stay tuned...

:)

If you plan on getting / building this kit, you might want to consider stocking up on some aftermarket parts:

Back in June 2015, I also purchased some of DLM's resin upgrade parts for this kit.  You can check out what I got here: http://scifimodelaction.com/sfmaforum/index.php?topic=5082.msg68671#msg68671

Gadgetron...  Don told me he plans on shutting down at the end of the year.  I don't know if he was definite about that or not, but if anyone wants parts from him they should probably order them now.

Well, the way I see it, this is an opportunity for HDA or someone else to step in and provide similar products for a better service. I'm appreciative for what DLM has provided us all, but it's been over two months and I am still waiting for my order. If his business is dwindling so much, as he's said on his page, then I can't imagine why there is such a long turnaround time for processing orders. If his business is grinding to a halt, 10+ weeks is a bit ridiculous to wait to get my crap.
