« on: November 21, 2017, 07:43:47 pm »
Here we go Steve. LOL

Haven't decided if this is going to be the Enterprise or not.
As you can see I am lighting it and using TenaControls buzzard
effects.

Aawwwwww yeahhhh! ;D ;D ;D

Looking good, Cameron!

Is this the AMT or the Revell? If AMT, what did you use to cut the windows?

Awesome! Steady as she goes!!

It is the AMT kit. For the windows I used my Tamiya handy
drill then used my blade to square them up and cleaned them
up with some micro files. They are not accurate and the base color is
light grey. So I think this will be a different Connie.

Oh, I see! You used the pattern on the hull. Got it!

I have an idea for my next AMT Connie build that involves cutting out the windows and lighting it. I've already bought the accurizing parts fro JTGraphics. I bought an AMT TOS E as backup for the two I've already done so I have a complete model in the stash waiting to be done.

I plan to use the Paragrafix 18 Inch Enterprise Window Templates Set #PGX188 to cut the windows and the lights on the saucer and then light the thing up.

So as you can see, I am very interested, as always, in what you are doing in your build - which looks awesome so far! Feel free to share any and all wiring and lighting details you care as I will be using yours for reference!

Keep 'er going, Scotty! Keep 'er going!

Thanks. Wiring is basic strip lighting for interior lights then 1.8mm leds for nav and the two strobes
on the secondary hull. I've set up an arduino for them using Gadjets code. I'll show some pics of the
saucer wiring. I forgot to take pics of the secondary hull wiring but it is pretty basic. I've also decided
that this is going to be the ISS Exeter when completed. I made some custom decals for it I'll post a
pic of those later.

The decals look good Cameron!

What did you use as a pattern or did you just eyeball it?

Mostly eyeballed. I play with one till I think the scale is right then base all the rest off of it.
I print draft copies on the cheap printer every now and then to check scale. I do a lot of
bouncing between Photoshop and Paint Shop pro to make them. I can match the font for
just about all Star Trek ships. I can do custom names and registries also. I already have a
lot of graphics premade in the correct scale so it is a lot of copy and paste. I'm hoping to
pickup a laser printer here soon just for decals but for the moment I'm still using an inkjet.

Small update. Been busy doing other things. Got the saucer wire up and cutouts done on upper
saucer. Not much to show. Backed the cutouts with thin styrene and filling them with canopy
glue.
