AMT Command Bridge Build
« on: December 08, 2017, 09:33:57 pm »
I started this a couple of weeks ago. still got a long way to go. I plan on backlighting as well as have some select fiber optics lighting up Kirk's chair, the red alert warning on the navigation board as well as the lights under the main view screen. I am using the Para Grafix photoetch (first time using photoetc). There are a couple of good builds here on the board that I have looked at, and will be using for guidance.

Are you planning on having a working view screen?
I did that on mine. Is that a 2.5 inch screen? You'll
have to remake the view screen area to make it fit and
look right.

Yes I do, and yes it is a 2.5" screen. I plan on following the Para Grafix instructions to actualize it.  I have read your post, but the view screen is at an angle in the pictures.  If you have a picture of the front and back of the view screen you would like to share I would appreciate it.

I'll check my build pics this weekend and see. I did the entire view screen
panel from scratch I also had to modify the two panels on either side.

Hey thanks for the pics, I appreciate it. Your view screen looks spot on, how did you mount the screen? Here is what I got so far. I decided not to fill in the top of the view screen, just the bottom.  [imghttp://][/img]

Hotglue was my friend. I use a low temp hotglue gun for a lot of things.
Don't use a high temp it will melt the styrene.

Got my Raspberry Pi in, downloaded Kodi media center on it and hooked it up to my viewscreen. Downloaded a couple of pictures for the screen saver and an episode of Star Trek.

Whoa!

Well done! The view screen likes great.

Keep at it!

Thanks guys.  Tankton, I ended up using double sided Velcro to attach the screen for a mock up, worked out well.

Good idea. I didn't have any velcro at the time or I might have tried that also. It would make it easier to do repairs.

OK, wow, this is really cool!  For all the things Star Trek got right, the endlessly random blinky lights were sure off the mark!  Are you planning on have a similar random blinky idea for your lighting?
