Moebius 1/32nd Colonial Viper Mk.II and Cylon Raider
« on: December 28, 2017, 07:21:40 pm »
I built the Viper last December and the Raider this December. Figured the new guy (this is my second post) should show his last couple projects.

My first lit kit. The lighting was done with 6 LEDs, a switch, and a 9v. About as simple as you can get. Two sets of 3 LEDs each to match the forward voltages to the battery. Port on one circuit and starboard on the other. I integrated the switch into the detailing between the engine louvers. I'm really pleased with how it came out. I learned that I need to be more aware about light blocking from the inside of the kit. You can see in the pic of the underside you get a glow through the plastic. You hardly notice it in person, but the camera makes it look much worse.

Very nice detail work on both of these....  Those original series fighters were sweet!
Just think of what my life might be.....   In a world like I have seen!

Sweet!

Got a Viper in the stash calling my name, but need some more experience to do it justice.
The raider looks good too.

Question. I noticed what I think is oil paints in the background. Were those for the wash? Curious because
I'll be trying to weather my next build.

Spencer, I used the oil paint for both a wash and for dry-brushing. Worked really well.

The viper cockpit looks great.  Is that all stock or did you get the aftermarket resin cockpit?

All stock. The kit came with a bunch of decals. I simply painted in a little extra.

Very nice Tonimus! The Raider was the first kit I lit and finished when I re-entered the hobby a few years back. Like you, I was very pleased with how it came out. I went a bit heavier on my weathering, but otherwise it looks very similar to yours. I still haven't done a reboot Viper yet. That's on my 'to do' list down the road.
