My old Klingon bird of prey under construction again.
« on: February 12, 2018, 05:52:54 pm »
Here's my old AMT/Ertl Klingon bird of prey model  back under construction after lingering in the storage room.   I bought a small carbide reamer set from Harbor freight which I'm using to open up the outer ring around the torpedo tube. now just to decide if I'm going to make it into Kruges bird of prey, or one of the many other bird's of prey seen in both the movies, TNG, or DS9.

I kept it as well. But now it seems like it will become garbage.

Practice with the Testors canopy window maker where the two red lights shine down on the birds neck. with some clear red and lit up looks like it might work.

Hit a snag with the kit,  they closed all of the local radio shacks here where I live.  and there is no place to get LEDS, and stuff for lighting with them gone.  So I have to find somewhere that sells LEDS, and stuff before I can move on with the kit.   Any suggestions?

All RadioShack are gone now.   :(  It's internet ordering now for most all of us.

This super-detailing is looking really nice, J.T.

Surprisingly, Amazon has stuff like this. I just bought LED strip connectors, power supply and various other lighting materials from them - stuff I couldn't really find at any of the other sites listed above. I would much rather order from someone that I know "in the business", however. My $.02 worth.

Looking forward to seeing your ship evolve!

Start where you are.
Use what you have.
Do what you can.

Thanks you for the compliment.  I just hope to have her come out as well as I imagine her looking.
I too get carried away with my trek models, and hope to try to make them look kinda like the movie models.....it's an obsession.
