Excited to start modeling
« on: July 02, 2018, 09:12:22 am »
I have been on the forums for a bit but am now at a place in my life where I can start making models.  I am mainly interested in Star Trek models but am very new to the whole business.  I'll be looking for help on gap filling and lighting and look forward to the assistance.

For gap filling, putty is usually best in smaller holes/crevices in my experience. And sometimes, you would want to add a second layer of putty if the first layer shrinks too much.

So.. what you can do instead of trying to jam a lot of putty into large gaps, is to buy 'Evergreen' styrene products. This way you can place a bit of styrene in openings, and then add putty to fill in the rest of the gaps.

Styrene plastic can be glued on with regular glue, and for example Tamiya's Extra Thin Cement (liquid glue).
