COMPLETED! Neil's 1/350 Enterprise Refit
« on: July 23, 2018, 07:32:41 pm »
After seven months, I have completed my Polar Lights 1:350 scale U.S.S. Enterprise Refit. I’d like to say a special thanks to Paul at Big Easy Modeling Solutions for his support and friendship - not to mention help and advice on many, many occasions. Also thanks to Steve at CultTvMan.com and to my local hobby shop, Boardwalk Hobby Shop in Cincinnati, Ohio!

See the complete build log here: http://scifimodelaction.com/sfmaforum/index.php?topic=7345.0

Oh, and I’m still married! How about that?

Neil

Thanks for watching!!

I went through your entire flickr stream of finished pics, and I have to say, she looks pretty darned good!  As someone who knows what a pain in the rear this kit is to build, let alone make look good, you nailed it!

Thanks MattA! As someone who lurked around here for a long while before joining up because I didn't think I could do it, I am honored by the comments from you and others!

I hope you have a place for it, like at the end of a hallway, or at some safe spot next to where you get to walk.

I suppose dusting the model would be safe if you have a decent dust brush, like the one from Tamiya. Without risking wearing down or breaking the model over time. Though, I guess dirt and fat from the ktichen might accumulate on the surface if not protected.

Excellent build. I have one in the stash. I keep looking at what other builders do and it scares me off of the build. Your aztec is great. When(if) I ever build this your paint job is going to be the motivation for mine.
If it don't fit, you must not quit.

Hi Neil.

Sorry but I will have to charge you for the damage caused when my jaw hit the floor.

Another beautiful Refit joins the fleet. I especially like the low-power color of your deflector dish. It's looks much more accurate to me than the orange-amber ones I've seen on other builds (mine included). I also like the way it transitions from low to high power mode without going dark in between. Very nice, & lovely photography too!

That turned out great!   The detail is amazing.

To build or not to build.... that is the question.   The answer.... build... Duh.

Incredible job!

I'll echo what CrowTRobot said about the deflector as well.

Q: I wonder, did you add any varnish to the hull at the very end?

Just a thin coat of dullcoat over everything except for the big windows, chiller grills, and the deflector dish.
