I like the piping on the engines. I know you have yet to paint everything but right now, that brass makes things look a bit steampunkish lol.

thanks guys.

Well, I've done all the detailing that I'm going to do to the back end. I'll be base painting it all black etc shortly and then onto getting the lighting sorted out. I'm not sure which colours I should go for. Ice blue or white for the main thrusters? Warm white for the smaller ones as well.

Next update should be the final pics of the back end

Thanks for stopping in and having a look

Si, every time I see one of your posts, I become so envious of your skill and modeling prowess!

You are the Master! (Granted, one of the many here on this site; but still a Master!)

When you say "ice blue or white" for some of the engines, what do you mean? I mean, I thought the engines where all blue, white-blue. Is there a difference?

Just curious. Student asking questions here.

Keep going!

Steve

Thanks Steve - you're way too kind
Essentially, "Ice Blue" is just a cooler shade of blue. It looks a more like Aqua or Turquoise . They're for the 3 main thrusters and then I'll use standard White LED's for the 4 sub thrusters (I actually really don't know what they're called but that's the term I have prescribed for them and I'm sticking to it  ;) )

I've been asked a couple of times on another forum if I could take some shots with something recognisable for scale, so I just took a couple of pictures with a Tamiya Glue Bottle in front. It's not a small ship like usual - this one's definitely bigger than the Yunagi!! I can lay 2 of them, 1 over each side of that back end alone

As you can see, it's got some paint on it and it looks much more tied together now. I think I got the colour right too!

Anyways, I've started on the bridge and I shall have pics of that hopefully this weekend
I hope the pictures give you a better sense of scale.?

Thanks Dave :)

Time for an update

I've started the bridge and have pretty much finished the face. I may yet go back and add a couple more bits on for good measure.

I have most of the holes drilled ready for fibers to go in.

I've also made a start on the roof section. It's a little bland for my taste so I've started adding details there to. Again, all made up stuff - no references. It just makes it look more interesting

The back end is also now painted and ready to go on. I still have to install the lights but that won't take long. I'll take some lit shots when it's all done

Well, that's it for now. I'll update again once I've done something worth showing with the bridge

Thanks for stopping in and having a look

Well done! Are you going to give it a light wash?

Stunning. I think no reference is a good thing in this case.

Cheers guys

Yeah, I'll run a light wash over some parts to give them depth but nothing to spectacular. I'm concerned that any overly dark wash may throw out the scale a bit too so I'll have to use a light wash. I think dark gray would work OK

I glued in the lights last night. I just have to wire them up now which won't be too hard. I haven't even tested them yet but they'll be fine
See you again soon

That aft section looks incredible Si....  I went back to page one of this thread to check the original photo's of the kit parts and I'm definitely impressed at all your improvements!

You've only got about 28" to go?     :b

Thanks for the reminder there Wolf!   :P I keep looking at the main hull pieces and shuddering. Just focusing on 1 section at a time helps keep my sanity in check  ;D Guns will be well and truly finished before me I dare say.
Im enjoying having some else build and detail this kit along side me

Hardly lol. ;D I have lots of stuff on my plate, and this kit ranks somewhere in the last quarter of the list.

hi all

Work continues with the completion of the roof. I'll have the big X thingy standing up I think. I need to start detailing that part and then add it to the roof. The shield generators have been added since these pictures but I need to fix up a few things  before I can show you.

That's it for now. Thanks for looking

Si
