I was scrolling through your pics and saw your clamps in the thumbnail. Due to it's color, my first thought was "Why is he using a rubber chicken to clamp that part open?!"

This is why you shouldn't read build threads on just a little coffee! :D

It is a metal grille from an old water filter. Non-rusty, flexible, resistant and easy to cut.
