Galaxy Class lifeboats.
« on: January 03, 2019, 05:38:41 pm »
Hey all,

I pinched some pennies and got the Donshoko 1/1000 Enterprise D. Although it will be some time before I get to it, I had a question about lifeboats.

I've looked over the wonderful photos from the Christie's Auction:
http://www.mutara.net/Christies/Models.html

But it looks like there is no rhyme or reason to how the lifeboats are ordered. Just randomly placed with some repeating numbers.
Understandable given that you were never supposed to be able to see that kind of detail.

The 1400 scale kit's lifeboats just have repeating patterns of the same numbers.

Is there any material out there, source or not, on how these should be placed? Or just plop em down at will?

Not only random with some repeats, but the ones on the underside of the saucer effectively have their labels upside down. It wasn't meant to be examined all that closely.

My recommendation would be to just place them in a way that seems "right" to you.

It'll be a while, hopefully on the new site. Lou Dalmaso (The Aztek Dummy) has a youtube build up as well.

Here's the link for the kit if anyone's interested. Not cheap and there is a waiting list at this point.
